WordsThaw schedule
Here’s a brief summary of the program (program schedule available here):

  • Thirty-eight poets, novelists, short story writers, and journalists are gathering under The Malahat Review umbrella for WordsThaw. Some are loved local authors; others are from the B.C. mainland and the rest of Canada.
  • On the evening of Friday, February 21, come listen to Words on Ice: Evolution of the Author, an exciting showcase of eight new and established voices—paulo da costa, Cynthia Flood, Phil Hall, Anita Lahey, UVic writing professor David Leach, Daphne Marlatt, Miranda Pearson, and UVic writing student Benjamin Willems—all of whom are at different states of their vocations. Words on Ice is co-presented by Planet Earth Poetry.

During the day of Saturday, February 22, there are four panel discussions:

On Saturday, February 22, pass holders can sign up for a 15-minute critiquing session to get useful comments on a writing sample. Eight Victoria authors—Dede Crane, JoAnn Dionne, Catherine Greenwood, UVic writing professor Matthew Hooton, Steve Noyes, Aaron Shepard, Robin Stevenson, and Christine Walde—are available to discuss poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and children’s / young adult literature.

For more information about the symposium, including panelist biographies, event schedules, and how to purchase tickets, please visit the WordsThaw website. We hope to see you there!
