The Malahat Review Enters the Digital Age

Now Accepting Regular Fiction Submissions via Submittable

Submittable As of May 19, 2015, The Malahat Review will no longer be reading paper / hard copy submissions of fiction that arrive in the mail. This completes our transition to digital-only submissions for poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction!

Please send us your fiction stories via Submittable, an online submission system that lets you keep track of all the work you send out to literary magazines. This means no more paper, envelopes, stamps, tracking numbers... just type, click and send!

Here’s the skinny:

  • A Submittable account is free and it's easy to join. Unlike other literary journals, we don't charge writers a "reading fee" to submit their work using Submittable.
  • With Submittable, keep track of all your literary journal submissions using a streamlined interface.
  • Submissions of short fiction may be up to 8,000 words in length. Unless the stories are very short (i.e., less than 1000 words long each), no submission may consist of more than one story.
  • Response time on fiction can be up to 9 months via email.
  • Full submission details can be read on our website.
  • Questions? Email us, and we'll be happy to answer: malahat@uvic.ca
