Liz Darroch is a Writing student at the University of Victoria, specializing in fiction with a minor in History, though she is also passionate about creative essays and song lyrics. Originally from Toronto, she enjoyed short fiction, novels and comics at a young age and considers storytelling her first hobby. She has since channeled those interests into volunteering at local bookstores; assisting with the revision of a nonfiction manuscript; helping organize an event for a Vancouver author; and reviewing books for her high school library's blog and the school newspaper. Prior to her internship with The Malahat Review, she worked on social media coordination for a small business and improving the document management system for a nonprofit. When not reading or writing, she can be found analyzing film and television, playing the cello, and sometimes editing videos. Her favourite genres are magical realism, paranormal or gothic horror, fantasy and sci-fi.
